Selena Gomez hid secret messages in her newest Puma collection
Selena Gomez must be learning from BFF Taylor Swift.
The singer, 26, released her second collection with Puma on Wednesday and revealed that there are some messages for diehard fans hidden in the clothes.
There are the coordinates and names of places that are important to Gomez, including Grand Prairie, Texas (her hometown), Los Angeles, New York and Herzogenaurach, Germany, where Puma HQ is located. She has also added semicolons, a nod to the wrist tattoo she got after producing “13 Reasons Why” on Netflix, meant to represent choosing to begin a new life chapter instead of ending it.
“I’ve put everything from some of my tattoos, my birthdate, the coordinates of my hometown — even working with lupus and having an artist create a box for a shoe that I release where some of the proceeds are able to go to that. I try to find original ways of doing it,” she told Glamour magazine. “Every single thing that I do in my career and my life, I just feel so grateful. So most of the time, I try to put a little piece of me in [it].”
This isn’t the first time that the “Taki Taki” singer has hidden personal Easter eggs and inspiring quotes in clothing designs. She wrote, “Not perfect, Always me” in some of the pieces of her line for Coach and had her favorite Bible verse stitched into the dress and matching handbag she wore to the “Heavenly Bodies”-themed 2018 Met Gala. Her first collection with Puma also included sports bras with the message “Strong inside and out.”
As for her personal fashion sense, Gomez says she likes to keep things “simple” and believes that “half of fashion is confidence.”
“I go through periods where I’m absolutely in love with fashion, and then I go through periods where I’m like, ‘I don’t know what to wear, I don’t know what’s cool.’ And I’m going to just do my own thing,” she said, adding that the one trend she’s obsessed with is barrettes.
Prices for the second Puma collection, which includes two new sneakers as well as travel-ready athleisure, range from $12 for socks to $120 for footwear while apparel ranges from $35 to $80.
