Demi Lovato defends Scooter Braun in feud with Taylor Swift

Demi Lovato is sticking up for her manager, Scooter Braun, after Taylor Swift blasted the music executive when he bought the rights to her old catalog.

“Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy,” Swift, 29, said on Tumblr. “Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.”

Swift accused Braun of “bullying” her in the past during the lowest point of her career.

Coming to Braun’s defense, Lovato, 26, wrote on Instagram, “I have dealt with bad people in the industry and Scooter is not one of them. He’s a good man.”

The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer said that she is “grateful” Braun, 38, took her on as a client when he did, adding that she is “always going to stay loyal to my team.”

“I value loyalty more than most people in this world and if my name is gonna be brought into conversations I’m gonna stand up for myself and the ones on my team,” she added.

In May, Lovato announced on Instagram that she had hired Braun, who also represents artists including Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.

“Couldn’t be happier, inspired and excited to begin this next chapter,” she said at the time. “Thank you for believing in me and for being a part of this new journey.”

Braun’s decision to work with Lovato came less than a year after the pop star overdosed and nearly died.

On Instagram, he called her a “special person and a special talent,” and said, “I’m … we … are honored. Welcome to the family Demi.”

Bieber, whom Braun discovered on YouTube at age 12, also backed his longtime manager after Swift’s reaction to his $300 million deal with her former music label, Big Machine Label Group.

“What were you trying to accomplish by posting that blog?” the “Sorry” singer wrote on Instagram. “Seems to me like it was to get sympathy u also knew that in posting that your fans would go and bully scooter.”

However, other stars like Halsey and Cara Delevingne came to Swift’s defense.

Delevingne, 26, commented under Bieber’s post that she wishes he “spent less time sticking up for men and more time trying to understand women and respecting their valid reactions.”

Halsey, 24, shared how Swift inspired her to write her own music, adding, “It turns my guts that no matter how much power or success a woman has in this life, you are still susceptible to someone coming along and making you feel powerless out of spite.”
