Manager says A$AP Rocky is being held at ‘inhumane’ Swedish prison

Manager says A$AP Rocky is being held at ‘inhumane’ Swedish prison

A$AP Rocky is being held at a Swedish prison with “inhumane conditions” following a street fight in the country, according to the rapper’s manager, who is petitioning for the star’s release.

“The conditions of the facility are horrific,” manager John Ehmann wrote in a new Change.org petition titled “#JusticeforRocky Demand that Rocky be released by Swedish Officials.”

Ehmann went on to claim there is “24/7 solitary confinement, restriction of amenities for the most basic of human functions, access to palatable and life sustaining food as well as unsanitary conditions.”

The music exec called for fans to sign the petition on Instagram after the Swedish Supreme Court denied an appeal for Rocky’s release on Monday.

Earlier this month, authorities said Rocky had been detained over a suspected attack. The rapper shared a video of the incident on July 2, and said the fight went down after “drug addicts” hassled him, some friends and a security guard on the street.

Ehmann said Rocky and his team acted in “self-defense” after they were “harassed and physically assaulted.”

Authorities said in a statement on July 3 that the Americans were detained to stop them from leaving the county in order to avoid prosecution.

A rep for the Swedish courts confirmed to Page Six that Rocky was detained “on probable cause of assault, as there was a reasonable risk that he should flee or otherwise evade legal proceedings or punishment.”

The spokesperson continued, “The reason for detention was deemed to outweigh the intrusion or other detriment to the suspect or some other opposing interest.”

According to Ehmann, the prosecutor is looking to extend the start of Rocky’s trial to the middle or end of August.

The Swedish courts’ rep told us the prosecutor has until July 19 to initiate a prosecution, and if an extension is requested, the court will “then decide whether to accept the extension of the period or not.”

The “Fashion Killa” rapper began his pre-trial two-week sentence on Friday while police investigate the street fight that led to his arrest.

A rep for Rocky could not be reached for comment.
