Kylie Jenner’s new birthday makeup collection celebrates her billionaire status
Kylie Jenner isn’t shying away from her title as the youngest self-made billionaire.
The makeup guru and reality star, 21, revealed her newest Kylie Cosmetics birthday collection on Thursday night with the theme of money.
Both the packaging and product names refer to cash, with names like “Time is Money,” “Stacks,” “Work For It” and, ironically, “Money Ain’t Everything.” Never one for subtlety, Kylie also stamped the matte powered eyeshadows and compact products with dollar signs.
The collection includes a new eyeshadow palette, more matte liquid lipsticks as well as glosses, liquid eyeshadows and highlighters, an all-over body highlighter and Kylie’s first-ever liquid eyeliner and face primer.
She even printed pink $100 bills with her photo on them and the drip over the lips in her logo has been changed to look like bills.
Jenner also posed in a pink bodysuit and pink bikini with M$ney sunglasses ($220) in green and the M$ney necklace ($175) by Rad + Refined. She also wears a strapless Moschino dollar bill-patterned dress ($3,495) with matching gloves.
Naturally, trolls took to her comment section on Instagram to criticize her for this “tone deaf” celebration of wealth. “I hope it’s not about the billionaire status? People will start hating you because of it,” one person wrote. “Money is really the root of all evil and they will eventually stop buying your products because of it.” Another said, “Girl be like the theme is dollar — as in you spendin yours and she quadrupling hers in her bank account.”
However, Jenner hinted that some portion of the proceeds will be donated to charity. “All I wanted to do for my birthday was make this Money Collection and then give it all away,” she said in an Instagram video, adding that she will reveal a special partner in the near future.
The collection launches on Kylie’s actual birthday, August 10.
