Is Selena Gomez launching a beauty line?
Like Kylie Jenner, Rihanna and Lady Gaga before her, Selena Gomez appears to be gearing up to launch her own beauty brand.
According to documents filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office, the actress and singer, 26, filed an application to trademark her name on July 11 in the realm of various beauty products including fragrances, cosmetics, skin care, hair care, soaps, moisturizers and essential oils.
The trademark was filed by her production company, July Moon Productions.
This would be Gomez’s first foray into the business of beauty besides a fragrance released in 2011 with Adrenalina Inc. However, she’s no stranger to the fashion business; Gomez has modeled and designed for both Puma and Coach, and recently designed a bikini for Krahs, the swimwear brand started by her best friend and former manager.
Beauty brands are big business for today’s stars. Back in March, 22-year-old Jenner became the world’s youngest self-made billionaire thanks to the explosive growth of her Kylie Cosmetics empire. And in June, Rihanna was named the richest female musician in the world, thanks largely to the success of her Fenty Beauty line.
