Male celebrities embrace nail art and manicures on the red carpet
Less than one week into 2020, it’s clear that nail art is the newest trend in menswear.
While A$AP Rocky and Bad Bunny were among the first to sport colorful manicures last year, more and more male celebrities are jumping on the trend in the new year.
“I feel like men should be able to do nail art without feeling feminine,” A$AP Rocky declared, prophetically, to Vogue in October. It seems he’s gotten his wish; on the 2020 Golden Globes red carpet, multiple male stars — including Machine Gun Kelly, Ansel Elgort and Bobby Berk — were all spotted with freshly painted nails.
Harry Styles also caused a ruckus with fans at the 2019 Met Gala when he wore simple blue and pink nail polish. Upon the release of his “Fine Line” album in December, the star leveled up with his first gel manicure, care of celebrity manicurist Britney Tokyo.
“Nails are his new favorite things,” Britney exclusively tells Page Six Style, adding that his album release manicure will last him one month and that Styles is likely to switch up the design very soon.
“I feel like men’s nails are going to gain more attention and start becoming a norm in 2020,” she predicts. “Men’s nails are usually black, matte or just other simple designs, but this year it will be different. Female or male, what’s cool is going to be cool!”
Britney thinks that red, pink and matching couples designs — already seen on Dua Lip and Anwar Hadid — will be all the rage in the new year.
