What the Queen’s crisis Megxit meeting is expected to cover
Monday’s royal Megxit meeting will cover everything from Harry and Meghan‘s royal titles, security and any money-making deals they may have on the table.
The “Sandringham Summit,” as it’s being called, will be the first in-person meeting of Prince Harry, Prince William, Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth, and will include Meghan Markle calling in from Canada.
Government officials and members of the royal court established a “range of possibilities” for the Monday meet, which were revealed by The Sunday Times of London. The newspaper also obtained Prince William’s first remarks on the controversy.
The amount of official royal work the Duke and Duchess undertake on behalf of the family and the government, both overseas and in the United Kingdom, will be outlined, along with what their titles will be and how those titles will be referenced.
The conversations are also supposed to decide how much money the Sussexes will receive from the Queen and Prince Charles after they lose taxpayer funding. In their family breakup statement, Markle and Harry said they want to be “financially independent.”
How the couple intends to earn their dough, particularly any commercial deals the couple would be allowed to strike, will be on the agenda.
After the summit, the plan will be made public, according to the report, which specified that all parties understand the changes will “take time to implement.”
Other logistics for the royal rulebreakers seem to already be in the works.
Harry and Meghan’s security may be downgraded, with guards carrying only Tasers instead of guns, the paper reported.
The blame game is apparently still in full swing, with senior royals, like Prince Charles’ siblings Princess Anne and Prince Edward, allegedly blaming the Queen’s private secretary Sir Edward Young for his handling of the scandal and his lack of control over the royal household.
Fingers are being pointed at Prince Charles and Prince William, too — sources close to Harry say he believes his family members were responsible for leaking details of his plans to the press, which forced him and Markle to rush their announcement.
Charles and William have instead pinned the blame on Markle’s “American PR company” Sunshine Sachs, according to the report.
