Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed on Wednesday that they will officially wrap up Megxit next month — with their new royal-free life formally starting on April Fool’s Day.

While they’ve been hiding out in Canada, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had yet to quit their roles as senior royals, with Queen Elizabeth II earlier saying the change would kick in during the spring.

Finally confirming a date, the palace announced Wednesday that their new independent lives will officially start in April, with their office in Buckingham Palace closing on March 31, the Evening Standard said.

They will return to the UK for six events in late February and early March, with the last one being the Commonwealth Service on March 9, where they will join the Queen at Westminster Abbey, the Standard said.

The Sussexes vowed not to turn their back on Britain, however, and “will be in the United Kingdom regularly,” their spokesman told the paper.

They also agreed to a one-year transition period with their royal split to “ensure the arrangement works for all parties,” The Telegraph said.

In that transition period, Harry, 35, and Meghan, 38, will not use their His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness titles, but they will still retain them — leaving the possibility that the couple might change their minds and return sometime in the future.

Harry will also remain sixth in line to the throne, with no change in the line of succession.

Similarly, Harry will retain his ranks of Major, Lieutenant Commander, and Squadron Leader during the one-year transition period, but not use them nor perform any official duties associated with the roles.

He and Meghan, 38, will continue to be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as well as the Earl and Countess of Dumbarton in Scotland, and Baron and Baroness Kilkeel in Northern Ireland.
