Meghan Markle, Prince Harry slammed for not bringing Archie to the UK

A former royal adviser condemned Meghan Markle and Harry, Duke of Sussex — formally Prince Harry — this week for their “inconsiderate” decision to leave 10-month-old son Archie behind in Canada, as the couple wrapped their final royal appearances in the UK.

Speaking Monday on “Nine News Australia,” Dickie Arbiter — Queen Elizabeth’s press spokesperson from 1988 until 2000 — said there “isn’t an excuse” for the Sussex’s “not bringing” their only son overseas.

“It would be a great pity if he’s not brought over because he’s not seen his great grandparents, the Queen and Prince Philip, or his granddad [Prince Charles], since last year, and I think it would be such a shame if they don’t get a chance to see him,” Arbiter said.

“I believe that they should bring him, and I’m sorry, there isn’t an excuse for not bringing him. After all, he’s got to meet his family, his family are not going to get a chance to see him for some time because Harry and Meghan are going to be in Canada or the United States, wherever they decide to choose and make base,” Arbiter said.

After a “Nine News Australia” broadcaster remarked, “If they don’t bring him it’s spiteful, isn’t it,” Arbiter replied: “It is spiteful, it’s inconsiderate as well.”

He continued, “The Queen is going to be 94 in April, she’s not going to be with us much longer. Prince Philip is going to be 99 in June, he’s not going to be much longer.”

On Sunday, The Times reported Archie would remain in Noth America. As for parents Meghan and Harry, who stepped down from their “senior” royal roles in January, they are expected to attend Endeavour Fund Awards at Mansion House on Thursday evening.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Meghan, 38, and Harry, 35, are slated to participate in the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey with fellow members of the royal family, including Prince William and Kate Middleton. The event is also expected to be the pair’s final formal appearance ahead of their April 1 transition from royal life.

As for the Queen, she is said to have told Harry during a four-hour conversation that he and Meghan will “always be welcomed back.”

“She made it very clear to him that he and Meghan are always able to come back if they change their minds and she will welcome them with open arms,” a source previously told The Sun.
