Meghan and Harry are very concerned for pal Sophie Trudeau after coronavirus diagnosis
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are extremely concerned for their close friend Sophie Trudeau, the first lady of Canada, after she was diagnosed with coronavirus.
Mrs. Trudeau, married to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, tested positive for the virus on Thursday, shortly after returning home from a London speaking engagement, her office confirmed.
She will remain in isolation for the time being, while her husband will also undergo two weeks of isolation, and a source close to Meghan and Harry told The Post: “Right now Meghan and Harry are just concerned for the health and safety of others.
“These are scary times and they are more worried about what is happening in the world than what’s next for them.”
It’s not known whether the pair saw Mrs. Trudeau while in London.
The Telegraph reported that they left their baby son Archie at home in Canada while they flew to London for their royal “farewell tour” as a precaution over coronavirus fears.
They are very close to the Trudeaus, who are a part of their social circle, which also includes Meghan’s best friend, Jessica Mulroney, and her husband, Ben, the son of former Canadian Prince Minister Brian Mulroney.
Meghan flew back to Canada from London on Monday night, shortly after saying an emotional farewell to friends at a private Commonwealth event.
Harry has remained in the UK and this week held meetings at Buckingham Palace.
The pair will shortly embark on their new lives, financially independent of the royal family.
“They can’t sit around, they have to work to pay their bills. They want to work. Both through the paid work and philanthropy, I think they will focus on impact driven projects and hope to bring some good to the world” a source revealed.
As of yet, there is no time frame for the couple’s foundation to be launched. “It’s not likely to be a traditional charity. Harry and Meghan want to find their own way of giving back and new ways to make change,” the source added.
While recent reports claimed that Meghan, who made her name on the TV series “Suits,” had asked her agent Nick Collins to find her a Marvel superhero role, another friend told The Post that the only thing she has done is to record a voice-over for a Disney documentary about elephants — in return for a donation to the conservation charity Elephants Without Borders.
“Meghan has absolutely no interest in acting again,” the friend said. “She’s not going to be a Marvel hero or a Disney princess — none of those things.
“It’s completely fabricated, and completely at odds with their plans. It’s simply not a conversation that has happened.”
Indeed, the pair are actually close to signing a deal with Netflix to set up their own production company — a multimillion-dollar deal akin to Barack and Michelle Obama’s contract with the streaming giant, we are told.
The pair are also not moving to Malibu, but will use Canada as a base for the foreseeable future.
Even though the past week has been emotional for Sussexes, as Harry said to his fellow veterans at the Endeavor Fund Awards last week: “Many of you tonight have told me you have my back. Well, I’m also here to tell you, I always have yours.”
