Chris Cuomo described as a ‘cry baby’ and an ‘a–hole’ on the basketball court
Chris Cuomo — who had a verbal altercation with what he described as a “jackass, loser, fat-tire biker” last week — brought his famous temper to the basketball courts at New York’s most high-end gym years ago.
A source, who used to play hoops with the CNN anchor at the Reebok Club (now Equinox) at 67th Street and Columbus, tells Page Six Cuomo was known by fellow players to be a “tool,” “jerk,” “cry baby” and an “a - - hole.”
The source told us, “He is a pretty good player, and athletic. So it was ridiculous what a baby he was. You don’t usually see that behavior from really good players. His go-to reaction was some variation of ‘Do you want to fight?’ for even minor basketball plays.”
Adding, “I would have gladly fought him … But if you swung at someone at the club, you were automatically kicked out.”
The source says this was 10 to 20 years ago. “It’s been a long time, but it was memorable.”
Cuomo, who tested positive for the coronavirus, said on his SiriusXM show last week that he was confronted by a “loser biker” when he was on his own property with his family. “I don’t want some jackass, loser, fat-tire biker being able to pull over and get in my space and talk bulls–t to me, I don’t want to hear it,” he said.
He also regretted his job as a high-profile anchor prevents him from getting into fights. “That matters to me more than making millions of dollars a year … I want to be able to tell you to go to hell, to shut your mouth.”
The East Hampton biker told The Post he thinks Cuomo is a “bully.”
Over the summer, Cuomo flew into a rage on Shelter Island when a man called him “Fredo,” a reference to Fredo Corleone, the ineffective son of Vito Corleone in “The Godfather.”
“Don’t f–king insult me like that,” Cuomo said during the interaction caught on video.
“You call me ‘Fredo,’ it’s like I call you punk bitch.” And he fumed, “I’ll f–king throw you down these stairs like a f–king punk … take a f–king swing! I’ll f–king wreck your s– t.”
