Alex Rodriguez suggests ‘drive-through wedding’ with Jennifer Lopez
Love don’t have to cost a thing.
Alex Rodriguez has confirmed that his wedding to Jennifer Lopez — which was supposed to take place this summer — has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, but says he is now open to “cheaper” and socially-distanced alternatives.
“We have to go with the flow now,” the former MLB star said on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Thursday. “Everything is fluid. Everything has been put on pause — and see where the world takes us. These are obviously unprecedented times, and for us, we just want to make sure ‘safety first,’ and that all the little ones are taken care of.”
Rodriguez, 44, then shared that his 12-year-old daughter, Ella, just celebrated her birthday while in quarantine with a drive-through parade (similar to the one held for Gwyneth Paltrow’s son). The unconventional party gave him an idea.
“Some people said, ‘Maybe we have a drive-through wedding?” he said with a laugh. “It’ll be cheaper.”
It’s unlikely that the couple, who likes to gift each other expensive presents and host lavish parties, will actually wed in such a low-key way.
In March 2019, Rodriguez proposed to Lopez, 50, on a tropical getaway with a diamond ring estimated to cost over $1 million.
