Now’s your chance to smell like Sir Anthony Hopkins
What do Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Sir Anthony Hopkins have in common? They’re all creating celebrity fragrance empires.
Sure, the “Silence of the Lambs” star, 82, might not yet have a billion-dollar perfume business under his belt like Hilton and Spears — but his new Anthony Hopkins AH Eau de Parfum ($75) and home fragrance collection, launching in partnership with No Kid Hungry, is a start.
“Aromas are a form of meditation, they simply change my psychology,” the Welsh Oscar winner told Vogue. “Whether I’m playing music or painting in my studio, fragrance creates a mood of peace and invokes a strange sense of gratitude.”
Described as “a timeless elegant fragrance for men and women” on Hopkins’ website, the actor blends bergamot, musk and orange blossom, and promises to “awaken your soul and unleash what’s hidden inside your heart.”
“When I was a kid, we had an orange tree in my aunt’s garden,” Hopkins explained. “They had a big impact on me, and I love the smell of them.”
The packaging for both the perfume and Hopkins’ candles ($45) and diffusers ($50) — which come in sandalwood, amber and gardenia tuberose scents — feature the actor’s original artwork, which his more than two million Instagram followers know has kept him busy during quarantine.
Another passion project for Hopkins, besides painting, playing piano and philosophizing on social media? Adding to his impressive collection of Hawaiian shirts, which he buys from a shop in Maui called Jams World.
“I’ve got a collection of maybe 20 of them,” he told Vogue. “They cheer me up.”
