Khloé Kardashian reveals family Christmas party is canceled
Keeping up with the pandemic.
The Kardashians are pulling the plug on their annual Christmas party for the first time in 42 years due to the uptick in coronavirus cases.
“The Covid cases are getting out of control in CA. So we decided that we’re not doing a Christmas Eve party this year,” Khloé Kardashian announced on Twitter on Sunday, “It’s the first time we will not be having a Christmas Eve party since 1978 I believe.”
The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star added, “Health and safety first though! Taking this pandemic seriously is a must.”
In November, the reality star was still optimistic they would be able to hold the annual bash, writing on Twitter, “I think it will have to be way smaller obviously. And I’m totally fine with that, but we’re definitely celebrating Christmas! It will just have to be small and safe.”
The final decision comes just weeks after other members of her family were criticized for throwing “tone-deaf” parties amid the pandemic.
In October, Kim Kardashian flew her inner circle to a private island to celebrate her 40th birthday despite many states’ recommendations to avoid travel, except for essential purposes.
Khloé, 36, defended the trip, telling Ellen DeGeneres, “We did it in the safest way I could imagine someone doing it.”
A few weeks after Kim’s party, Kendall Jenner was slammed for her Halloween-themed birthday bash.
Many pictures showed guests not wearing masks and Jenner, 25, reportedly asked guests not to post on social media to avoid criticism.
Khloé said on Twitter on Sunday that her family members are “all so upset” about having to call off their annual Christmas Eve party.
The Good American founder then promised that next year’s party will be “f—king fire,” adding, “Covid better be gone by next Christmas.”
In previous years, stars like Paris Hilton, Sia, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have attended the Kardashians’ star-studded bash.
