Inside Leah McSweeney’s ‘insane’ premiere party for ‘RHONY’

Leah McSweeney’s “insane” party celebrating Tuesday’s premiere of “The Real Housewives of New York City” resulted in a wait outside the front door with people clamoring to get inside, a source tells Page Six.

Page Six is told the soiree, which took place Tuesday at St. Dymphnas in the East Village, reached capacity early and the doorman had to get the owner to try to stop people from coming inside per COVID-19-related capacity rules.

“The party was insane,” one attendee told us. “Everyone was getting turned away at the door. I’ve just never seen New Yorkers not respect the boundary of a door person before.

“People in this city are desperate to party.”

But a second source tells us the party followed COVID-19 protocol strictly and they were unaware of any drama happening outside of the bar. We’re told the capacity of the party was 100 people but 175 RSVPd, so a bouncer was holding the door from the get-go to have a “nice flow” so people wouldn’t be “elbow to elbow” and the party would be fully within safety regulations.

Naturally, some people came and left when they couldn’t gain access.

“RHONJ” star Dolores Catania, former “RHONY” star Elyse Slaine, Lourdes Leon and Azealia Banks, who snapped selfies together, all stopped by the party.

Other attendees included comedian Ziwe, Cat Marnell, Kelly Cutrone, Cory Kennedy, Gabriel Held, and drag personalities Lexington Banks and Dot Deville.

“It was just a really fun, very New York old-school night,” our second source shared.

When the Season 13 premiere aired on Bravo, everyone at the party watched and cheered on 38-year-old McSweeney when she appeared on screen.
