Travis Barker’s ‘survivor’s guilt’ tattoo references 2008 plane crash

Travis Barker has added yet another new tattoo to his vast collection — and this time, the design has nothing to do with his girlfriend, Kourtney Kardashian.

On Thursday, the 45-year-old Blink-182 drummer posted a video of his fresh ink by celebrity tattoo artist Ganga: the words “survivor’s guilt” on the crook of each of his arms.

Though Barker didn’t comment on the significance of the tattoo, it seems to be a reference to the 2008 plane crash that left the star with burns covering 65 percent of his body, severely injured his friend Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein and killed four other people on board.

In the aftermath of the crash, Barker was plagued with PTSD and depression as well as survivor’s guilt, which only worsened when Goldstein died of a drug overdose in 2009.

Barker coped with the physical and emotional pain by self-medicating with recreational drugs and “living a very wild rockstar lifestyle,” which exacerbated underlying health conditions he wasn’t aware he had — including bipolar disorder and Barrett’s esophagus, the latter of which can lead to a potentially fatal cancer.

In the years following, the rocker got sober, became vegan and cleaned up his act, getting high off of running and boxing rather than prescription drugs or marijuana.

He also recently launched a CBD wellness line, which he said has been instrumental in his day-to-day life.
