Kanye West’s Yeezy Gap line set for June release date
Summertime and the livin’ is Yeezy.
Kanye West’s much-anticipated Yeezy Gap line is on track to launch by the end of June, Business of Fashion reported on Sunday.
West, 43, first announced the collaboration on Twitter last June, sharing an early look at the line’s since-trademarked logo.
“We are excited to welcome Kanye back to the Gap family as a creative visionary, building on the aesthetic and success of his Yeezy brand and together defining a next-level retail partnership,” Mark Breitbard, Global Head of Gap Brand, said in a statement announcing the partnership.
In March, Bloomberg reported that the 10-year Yeezy Gap deal could be worth nearly $1 billion.
The “Good Morning” rapper, who gave fans a sneak peek at the line last July, has made his love of the Gap known since the release of his first album, 2004’s “The College Dropout.” He also worked at a Gap store in Chicago during his high school years.
In 2015, West told Vogue, “One of my dreams was to be the head creative director of the Gap. I’d like to be the Steve Jobs of the Gap … I’m not talking about a capsule. I’m talking about full … creative control of the Gap is what I would like to do.”
