Prince William, Kate Middleton have ‘quiet’ date night in town where they met
Prince William and Kate Middleton were able to have a “quiet” date night during their royal tour of Scotland.
The couple dined on Tuesday at Forgan’s restaurant in St. Andrews, the university town where they met and began dating in the early 2000s.
“When word went around, a crowd gathered at the front, but as far as inside was concerned, it was quiet for them. People left them alone,” one of the managers, Marc, told People magazine on Wednesday. “There was no pomp and circumstance or fanfare.”
He added, “They were very nice and complimentary when they left. Hopefully we will see them again.”
Marc couldn’t say what the couple dined on at the contemporary restaurant “with a Scottish twist,” but shared that the eatery’s most popular dish is honey and whisky glazed short rib of beef, served with cabbage, carrot chili and apple slaw, which costs $24.
Marc said Forgan’s has seen its fair share of A-list clientele. Pro golfer Rory McIlroy has dined at the local hotspot while using the area’s famous golf courses.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge kicked off their tour earlier this week, and Middleton already made headlines for her Princess Diana-like royal blue outfit.
It’s hardly the first time Middleton, 39, has been inspired by Diana with her style choices. Two of her post-baby looks honored Princess Di, and she regularly selects outfits, tiaras and jewelry that pay homage to her late mother-in-law.
There’s also her famed sapphire engagement ring, which once belonged to Diana. The iconic rock, designed by Garrard, features a 12-carat center stone surrounded by a halo of 14 diamonds.
