Clive Davis to host star-studded 90th birthday bash at Casa Cipriani
Clive Davis is gearing up to enter his ninth decade with a bang.
The music legend — who turns 90 on April 4 —will celebrate with a star-studded birthday bash at Casa Cipriani on April 6, we’re told.
“He is very much looking forward to it, especially because many of his closest friends along with his family will be celebrating with him,” a source close to Davis told Page Six.
“It’s an evening celebrating Clive… so there will certainly be some surprises,” they added.
Invites for the party started going out on Tuesday, and Page Six has heard that VIP attendees could include Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, David Foster, Katharine McPhee, Pat Houston, David Geffen, and entertainment lawyer Allen Grubman, as well as music honchos such as Monte Lipman, Tom Corson, Rob Stringer and Julie Greenwald.
Davis wrote on the invite: “I personally hope you will one day be told that the next birthday you celebrate will be your 90th. If you’re in anyway like me, you’ll be shocked, touched, shocked, gratified, and shocked.”
He added, “Where did the years go? Well, whether you’re family or a friend or an artist or a colleague, our lives have forever connected.”
Davis was forced to cancel his annual pre-Grammy bash due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but insiders insist the birthday bash is not a substitute.
“It’s been in the works for more than year and will be quite different from the glittering pre-Grammy gala,” the insider said
Details are still being kept under wraps. But Davis promises to “gather in a truly magnificent, brand new, spacious New York ballroom to celebrate together with warm reminiscences about unforgettable times,” he said.
