Shop the top fall 2023 fashion trends, according to experts
Autumn is officially here — and bringing plenty of fresh fashions to fall for.
But with so many seasonal styles hitting shelves, which trends are actually worth investing in? As the end of October nears, we’ve enlisted fashion pros and celebrity stylists to break down the hottest looks you’ll want to wear throughout the colder months ahead.
From bold red hues to equally eye-popping sculptural styles, keep reading for the looks destined to define fall and winter.
Paint the town red
The leaves aren’t the only ones embracing bold colors this fall. Celebrity stylist Wouri Vice, whose clients include H.E.R. and Issa Rae, tells us bright red fashion will be “big.”
“We’re just coming off of Barbie pink and Beyoncé’s [“Renaissance” tour] silver” he adds. “We’re living in a bold era … It’s a time of expression.”
Fashion expert and Afterpay ambassador Zanna Roberts Rassi similarly calls the fiery hue the “official color” of the season, dubbing it the latest “iteration [of] the ‘strawberry girl’ summer craze.”
Red-y to rock your own show-stopping take on the trend? While Rassi says head-to-to looks are the “freshest way to wear” the eye-catching shade — which she says “attracts positive attention and can increase confidence” — she also recommends bright accents via jackets or bags for those who’d prefer to ease in.

Rocking retro
Today’s biggest look just might be yesterday’s trends, according to celebrity stylist Ty Hunter, who worked with Beyoncé for over 18 years.
“I’m excited for retro and vintage fashion since I’m a thrift-head,” he tells Page Six Style, adding that he would also love to see “more eco-friendly materials and upcycled” pieces this fall.
As for how to rock the look? “I love the wide-leg pants and the vintage tailored silhouettes,” he says of ’70s-inspired fashion, adding that he’s “addicted” to styles from celeb-loved label Mother. “The fit and feel makes it worth the splurge.”

Blazing a new trail
Celebrities are hardly giving big blazers the cold shoulder — and neither are stylists like Vuori, who predicts sculptural styles will have a major moment this fall.
“There’s a lot of structure that is popping up … lots of shoulders and over-the-top sleeves,” he tells us.
Rassi also has her eye on on blazers with “big shoulders” and cinched waists; “It’s reminiscent of the ’80s power babe — and it means business,” she explains.
But when it comes to sharp shoulders, don’t underestimate comfort. “I start by dressing to accommodate whatever feels more comfortable, even in my most elegant moments,” Vice advises.

Picking patterns
Fall’s luxe patterned pieces are bringing a whole new meaning to fine print. “We love [that] the houndstooth is back,” says Vice, adding that plaids of all sizes are similarly seeing a resurgence.
“The accents could be red [or] navy and all the other colors that are in that full spectrum,” he says. “We’re really just having fun with it. I think fun is the key to this fall, [and] not to be too serious.”

Another trend that’s not all fluff? Rassi predicts that “fluffy, furry and cozy fabric” will be big for the colder months.
“Outside of sweaters and jackets, the freshest take for fall is on your feet,” she adds. “I’m loving the teddy Birkenstocks paired with a coordinating sock. They offer the comfort of a slipper with an unexpected edge.”
