5 theories on why Taylor Swift stayed hidden at fiancé Travis Kelce’s Chiefs home opener

Taylor Swift stayed hidden at fiancé Travis Kelce’s first home game of the 2025-26 NFL season, sparking numerous fan theories online.
Page Six confirmed that the pop superstar, 35, quietly snuck into the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles matchup at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., on Sunday.
Swift got to her VIP suite by walking behind a large screen, a rare move for the singer-songwriter, who is normally photographed making her way into the stadium.
Another video from Sunday appeared to show a glimpse of Swift’s mom, Andrea Swift, walking behind the screen as well.
Throughout the game, Taylor did not appear to be photographed. She was also never featured on the Jumbotron, marking a drastic change from her previous NFL appearances.
So why did the “Bad Blood” hitmaker choose to go fully incognito? Page Six is breaking down the top five theories.
Security concerns
Some Swifties believe their idol beefed up security measures following the assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk.
Kirk was fatally shot last Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University during a stop on his American Comeback Tour. He was 31.
There has been heightened security at various events across the nation due to the traumatic events that took place last week.
It would make sense that Taylor’s security team would also want to take extra precautions, and some Swifties even speculated that the screen she walked behind could have been bulletproof.
However, Christopher Herrmann, a professor at New York’s John Jay College of Criminal Justice, tells Page Six that the shield was most likely used just for privacy, not protection, as the latter would have been “heavier and needed much more manpower to maneuver.”
She dyed or cut her hair
Other fans think Taylor may have dyed or cut her hair — or made another drastic change to her appearance — leading up to the release of her forthcoming album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
She announced the new project last month during her first-ever appearance on the “New Heights” podcast, which Kelce, 35, co-hosts with his brother, retired Eagles center Jason Kelce.
“The Life of a Showgirl” is scheduled for release on Oct. 3.
She’s pregnant
Some Swifties also took to social media with unfounded theories about Taylor trying to conceal a pregnancy bump as the reason for why she stayed hidden.
Many noted that the musician also skipped the Chiefs’ first game of the season, which took place last Friday in São Paulo, Brazil. She was also a no-show at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards two days later.
The last time Taylor was photographed in public was on Aug. 29 at Arrowhead Stadium to watch Travis’ alma mater, the University of Cincinnati, take on the University of Nebraska.
Three days prior, the pair announced their engagement.
She doesn’t want to steal Travis’ spotlight
Since Taylor began dating Travis in the summer of 2023, all eyes — and cameras — have been on her whenever she attends his matchups.
In fact, the duo confirmed their romance when the Grammy winner showed up to one of the tight end’s home games that September.
Though Swifties have loved all the airtime she’s gotten since then, many frustrated NFL fans wish the focus would remain on the sport.
Moreover, this is likely Travis’ last season before retirement, so it’s possible his fiancée doesn’t want to steal his spotlight.
She’s still recovering from the Super Bowl
Some fans also wondered whether Taylor could still be recovering from the public embarrassment she suffered at Super Bowl LIX, which took place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans back in February.
Not only did the Chiefs lose 40-22 to the Eagles — whom they rematched on Sunday — but Taylor was also booed by a crowd of Eagles fans after she was shown on the big screen.
President Trump, who was also at the game, later taunted the songstress over the mortifying moment.
Reps for Taylor did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment on the aforementioned fan theories.
