Charlotte Tilbury spills her makeup tips, tricks and product picks

Charlotte Tilbury spills her makeup tips, tricks and product picks

Charlotte Tilbury knows a thing or two about making Hollywood magic.

In addition to dreaming up products like her iconic Magic Cream (from $65) and TikTok-loved Beauty Light Wands ($42), the makeup artist-turned-beauty mogul has been glamming up A-listers for decades — and became a household name herself along the way.

“I have loved creating so many iconic makeup moments throughout my 30-year career,” Tilbury tells Page Six Style.

Among her favorite memories? Doing Amal Clooney’s makeup for her “magical wedding” to George Clooney in 2014, working on “countless magazine covers with the gorgeous, glowing Jennifer Aniston” and “creating flawless makeup magic” with supermodel Bella Hadid.

Beyond Hollywood royalty, however, the beauty expert’s also beloved by real-life royals; while her popular Pillow Talk lipstick ($35) is a Meghan Markle favorite, she was also named a Member of Most Excellent Order by Queen Elizabeth in 2018.

“I have been so lucky to have worked with so many amazing, inspirational men and women for so many incredible events,” Tilbury says, before noting that “no matter where I am or who is in my makeup chair, my mission is always to make everyone feel and look like the most beautiful, confident version of themselves.”

And while not everyone can book a glam session with Tilbury herself, her products are just a few clicks away. Below, we’ve broken down nine bestsellers, all megahits among megastars — and shared Tilbury’s top tips for how to use each one.

Magic Cream (from $65)

“I always say, ‘You can’t have a beautiful painting without a beautiful canvas,’” Tilbury says. “When you have great, glowing skin, you feel amazing and everything you apply on top just glides on; your makeup will always look better after using Magic Cream.”

Plenty of stars would agree; brand face Lily James “cannot live without” the product, per Tilbury, while Khloé Kardashian once raved to People that the cream “has this magical moisture that your skin absorbs to and holds on to so well.”

As for how to apply it? “Just massage outwards and upwards along the cheekbones and across the jawline and forehead. Then, finish with my famous ‘Tilbury Tap’ technique — gently tapping from the [center] of the face outwards in a pitter-patter motion to boost micro-circulation in seconds,” Tilbury says.

Magic Cream is sold in a slew of different sizes, and the brand even released a version for the body in early 2023.

Matte Beauty Blush Wand ($42)

Despite debuting in early 2023, this “long-lasting” blush has already made a lasting impression on brand fans — and appeared on the red carpet on the faces of celebs like Doja Cat, Jessica Chastain and Aubrey Plaza.

“[It’s] so easy to apply, just dot, dot, blend and pop!” Tilbury says of the liquid formula.

Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk ($35)

To hear her tell it, Tilbury’s been painting “every red carpet around the world Pillow Talk pink” for years, as evident by the shade’s immense popularity in Hollywood.

Britney Spears picked the cult-favorite color for her 2022 wedding to Sam Asghari, while Meghan Markle wore it on the cover of Time magazine in 2021.

Airbrush Flawless Foundation ($49)

When it comes to matte, full-coverage foundation, plenty of stars and catwalkers are walking — or running — over to Charlotte Tilbury.

Per the makeup mogul, Bella Hadid is “obsessed” with this formula in particular.

Beauty Light Wand ($42)

In addition to practically taking over TikTok, Tilbury’s Beauty Light Wands are no stranger to the spotlight. At the 2023 Met Gala alone, the popular product popped up on Lizzo, Doja Cat and Kate Moss.

Beautiful Skin Foundation ($49)

“It’s so easy to apply. I always use my Hollywood Complexion Brush; starting from the [center] of the face, buff and blend into the skin,” Tilbury says of this similarly red carpet-ready foundation, which she describes as “infused with high-performance skincare ingredients to improve the look of your skin.”

Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder ($48)

What do Halle Berry’s 2023 Oscars look, a Suki Waterhouse music video and Christian Siriano’s spring 2023 fashion show all have in common? Each moment included this powder to lock looks in place.

“I always set and mattify every makeup look using my Airbrush Flawless Finish powder – it’s my red carpet beauty secret in every celebrity clutch,” Tilbury says of the “smoothing, soft-focus effect” formula, which she recommends applying with the Powder & Sculpt Brush ($49) on “the T-zone, down the nose, on the chin and across the forehead.”

Glow Glide Face Architect Highlighter ($48)

Another highlight of celebrity beauty bags? This new highlighter designed to glide on like liquid. Simona Tabasco, Doja Cat and Kacey Musgraves — to name just a few — have all picked the product for recent red carpet appearances.

Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes Mascara ($29)

This mascara has managed to push its way to the top of stars’ lists. Designed to give lashes “instant and long-lasting volume, length, and lift,” per the product description, it’s frequently a finishing touch for many red carpet makeup looks.
