Celebrity colorist dishes on stars’ favorite Olaplex hair products

From dramatic dye jobs to subtle highlights, stars’ hair is constantly in the spotlight.

And when it comes to caring for their tresses between transformations, countless celebrities — including Kim Kardashian, Billie Eilish and Drew Barrymore — count Olaplex’s product range as a big part of their haircare routine.

Just ask celebrity colorist Tracey Cunningham, who uses the line’s oft-discussed offerings on all of her A-list clients — including Jenny from the Block’s luscious locks.

“I introduced Jennifer Lopez to Olaplex years ago and she immediately loved how soft, shiny and healthy her hair looked after using it,” the hair guru and Olaplex ambassador tells Page Six Style.

“She uses it all the time now … Kim Kardashian … and Dakota Johnson also use Olaplex,” she adds. “I keep them all stocked!”

As for why stars are so hooked? With a “constant barrage” of events and roles requiring hair transformations, stars’ strands often get left “dry and damaged,” says Cunningham.

“I think so many celebrities love Olaplex because they see firsthand the immediate results after using the products,” she explains. “Using a bond-building haircare line like Olaplex … is really appealing to celebrities who need products that can repair visible damage and keep their hair looking healthy.”

Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector ($30)

Keeping up with Kim Kardashian’s hair routine? The star’s name-dropped Olaplex on numerous occasions, saying in a makeup masterclass that No. 3 “really works,” per The Cut, years before telling Allure she uses “a lot of Olaplex” when she’s blond.

Cunningham’s on the same page, as she says she uses it weekly by putting it in her damp hair “for 10 minutes” while making her coffee and feeding her cats, then washing it out with shampoo and conditioner.

“If you’ve never used Olaplex before, I recommend starting by incorporating Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector into your routine once per week,” she says of her “favorite” Olaplex offering.

Olaplex No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo ($30)

Plenty of stars suds up with Olaplex’s shampoo — including Jennifer Lopez, who once used it in a behind-the-scenes clip showing her “Dinero” music video prep.

Cunningham recommends using it for “daily maintenance” alongside the No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner ($30).

Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil ($30)

Wondering what makes Billie Eilish “Happier than Ever?” It just might be Olaplex. “I’m a big Olaplex nut — I use No. 3 before I shower, their shampoo, conditioner, No. 6, the oil, No. 0 — lots of Olaplex,” she recently told Harper’s Bazaar of the product line.

Cunningham also called out the Eilish-approved bonding oil, telling us “it’s great to use on hair, especially after using hot tools.” She also recommends Olaplex Bond Intense Moisture Mask ($30) “for all hair types but especially for curly hair, as curly hair has more hair bonds.”

Olaplex No. 4D Clean Volume Detox Dry Shampoo ($30)

No need to be in Cunningham’s salon chair — or even the shower — to try Olaplex’s most recent offering: dry shampoo.

“It’s perfect for a refresh with clients if I am on set with them and they don’t have time for a full wash, since it doesn’t leave any white residue or grit on the hair,” says Cunningham. “It’s weightless.”
