Did Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis have the best breakup in Hollywood?
In new photos from December 2020, Wilde, 36, and Sudeikis, 45, are seen in Los Angeles sharing a long embrace and smiling at each other.
At one point, “SNL” alum Sudeikis sweetly touches his hand to the actress’ face, a gesture she returns.
Despite the touchy-feely encounter, Page Six hears that the stars are just friends as they continue to co-parent — and that they are not getting back together.
This isn’t the first time the duo have been spotted keeping things cordial. They were photographed hugging and chatting happily on the streets of LA in November, shortly after news broke of their shocking split.
The pair have a long romantic history, beginning their relationship in 2011 shortly after Wilde and Sudeikis each ended their previous marriages — Wilde to filmmaker Tao Ruspoli and Sudeikis to “30 Rock” writer Kay Cannon.
Wilde was the one to make the first move way back when.
In 2013, the “Booksmart” director revealed to Allure that she thought Sudeikis “was so charming” when they first met at a “Saturday Night Live” party but that he didn’t ask for her number.
“Over the next six months we kept running into each other,” she recalled to the magazine. “[One night], my best guy friend walked up to him and said, ‘This is Olivia’s number. Use it.’ That was the beginning.”
Sudeikis also remembered the evening they first met, telling Stephen Colbert on “The Late Show” in 2017 (via People) that they “hit it off that night” but that things didn’t turn romantic for some time.
The two began dating and things quickly became serious.
Sudeikis popped the question two years later in July 2013 and their long engagement began.
“Both are over the moon,” a source told Page Six at the time.
A year later, Wilde and Sudeikis welcomed their first child, a boy named Otis Alexander. Then in October 2016, they announced the birth of their second child, baby girl Daisy Josephine.
As their family expanded, so did their need for more space. The couple sold their $3.9 million Manhattan two-bedroom apartment in 2015, The Post exclusively reported, and upgraded to a Brooklyn home in trendy Clinton Hill.
Throughout their relationship, they appeared to be living the dream — gushing about each other on talk shows, showing off their adorable children on social media, working together on successful projects such as Wilde’s directorial debut for “Booksmart,” and raving about their sex life.
In 2012, the “House” actress opened up about their bedroom adventures, sharing that she was “blissfully, hopefully, wildly in love” with the comedian and that they “have sex like Kenyan marathon runners.”
But those hot and heavy days slowly cooled off for the lovebirds.
A telling moment, perhaps, was when Sudeikis ditched an important night for his fiancée so he could party with his pals. As Page Six revealed in February, Sudeikis was spotted celebrating with the cast of “SNL” at STK Midtown for the show’s weekly afterparty while Wilde was winning an Indie Spirit Award in LA for directing “Booksmart.”
“Sudeikis and his posse were ready to get the party going as soon as they walked in, dancing all the way to their table,” a spy told us at the time, adding, “Sudeikis closed out the party, leaving at 4:30 a.m.”
Months later, news of the Hollywood power couple’s breakup shocked fans.
The pair ended their engagement of seven-plus years “at the beginning of the year,” People magazine reported in November 2020.
“It’s been amicable and they’ve transitioned into a great co-parenting routine,” a source told the mag, adding, “The children are the priority and the heart of the family’s relationship.”
